ABSEILING ADVENTURES

ABSEILING ADVENTURES FOR ALL THE FAMILY.

Abseiling  is an great half day activity if you fancy a pure adrenaline rush! a steady head is required to tackle the sheer Lakeland slate walls,  you do not need any experience or need to be built like an athelete! this activity is a fantastic family half day out, there are no age limits, everybody from 6 to 90 can join in the fun, we use some of the very best abseiling venues in the Lake District and abseils can be tailored to how adventurous you feel, we will usually start on a small 40 ft wall to get you used to abseiling, then if you feel brave, we can tackle the highest single abseil in the Lakes, 160ft of smooth Lakeland slate!! this amazing wall is in a venue named Cathedral quarry, and has been used in the film “Snow white and the huntsman” this is truly an amazing place, with a small tunnel entrance into an underground cathedral sized chamber, and the photographic opportunities are endless!

WHATS INVOLVED?

We would usually meet in Elterwater, which is great if you are staying in Ambleside, Windermere or Grasmere, and after introductions we will take the 5 min drive into greater Langdale, from there you will be issued with a climbing helmet and harness, and take the short walk to one of the local abseiling venues, you will then receive some great tuition on the basic fundamentals of abseiling, such as how to control your descent and how to dismount at the bottom.

HOW LONG DOES THE ACTIVITY LAST?

This is usually a half day activity,  and you can choose AM (9.15am – 12.30pm) or PM (1.00pm – 4.15pm), We can also extend into a full day, or tag on another half day activity to fill the day, and all safety and technical equipment is included, you would need to bring suitable clothing and a good pair of trainers to climb in, and a drink and snack.

HOW GOOD ARE THE INSTRUCTORS?

All our instructors fully qualified and insured, they are all first aid trained and are great company out on the crags, Highpoint also hold an AALA licence, this allows us to take out children under 16 years old without parental supervision, so if you fancy a few hours of peace and quiet, why not let us keep the kids entertained, I can guarantee they will have a fantastic time.
