Family Bushcraft experience in the Lake District.
After meeting at the Highpoint base we will take a short walk through the Elterwater village giving you the chance to relax in preperation for your bushcraft experience. Leaving all modern nessesities behind and going off track into the majestic forests surrounded by some of the best scenery the Elterwater area of has to offer.
On your 1 Day experience you will learn the basics of bushcraft skills, ranging from how to light a fire from just a spark, to constructing your own natural shelter using only what the forest has to offer. You will then have a small lesson in bushcraft navigation where you will learn some valuable skills to build on, such as using a compass and following a bearing to a spot in the forest, where along the way you will learn to identify the tracks of the many small animals and deer that make this terrain their home.
For the more adventurous we also offer the night experience, where you will get the chance to relax and enjoy the true beauty and tranquility of a night in the lake district. After a team effort in creating the evenings meal around the fire, your camp work is done and its feet up with a hot chocolate where there will be no shortage of a tale or two from one of our instuctors under the night sky. After a night in the natural shelter that you lovingly created earlier in the day, the experience will conclude with an early morning breakdown of camp where we will leave the with no trace of human disturbance, and walk the short distance back to the hotel.
Sleeping bags and mats will be supplied, you will need warm and waterproof clothing, and any personal items you wish to bring, you will need to bring a packed lunch and a drink for the daytime, and we will supply a hot meal, cooked on an open fire for those staying the night, mugs of hot chocolate will also be supplied.
Bushcraft day: Starts at 9.00am and finishes around 4.00pm
Bushcraft day/night: Starts at 9.00am and finishes around 8.15am the next morning.
