NAVIGATION SKILLS are one of the most important skills for any hillwalker or mountaineer to learn. We offer a fascinating weekend NAVIGATION SKILLS course based in the Lake District which is suitable for beginners and those with some experience. We also offer a day refresher course which is perfect for people with higher level skills who want to tighten up on any part of their navigation techniques.
Standard courses cover a wide range of skills including map reading, pacing, timing and taking/following bearings - full details can be found via the menu on the left.
If you want to try navigating at night, you could take part in one of our Night Navigation courses, which run during the winter months of November, December and January.
Our Navigation Skills courses are based in the Haweswater/Ullswater areas - just 10 minutes from J39 of the M6 and in the splendid mountain valley of Langdale. We can recommend excellent accommodation at the Mardale Inn at Bampton.
