VIA FERRATA IN THE DOLOMITES,
LAKE GARDA & DACHSTEIN ALPS

Via Ferrata, or Klettersteig as they are also known, provide a great way for walkers with a head for heights, scramblers and climbers to enjoy the drama of climbing with the minimum of equipment and technicality.

Participants clip a shock absorbing lanyard into the Via Ferrata cable for security, leaving you free to enjoy the scrambling and climbing without being encumbered by lots of equipment.

People of different ability levels can enjoy the same climbs by using the cables more, or less, to increase or decrease the technical difficulty of the climbing. If you're struggling, a quck pull on the cable or using some of the 'stemples' - iron rungs - will make the going easier.

We run trips to two of Italy's best Via Ferrata locations - Lake Garda, which is ideal for spring and autumn, and the main Dolomites - the birthplace of Via Ferrata and one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in the world.

In 2009 we will also be running a Via Ferrata week in a new location - the Dachstein Alps of Austria, which host the Johann route - one of the longest in the Aps, and the famous Ramsauer Klettersteig amongst others.
