Our special range of outdoor activities for school groups have been designed to introduce young people to the outdoors in a safe, fun and educational manner. Highpoint holds an AALA license and safety is always our main priority with these groups. Our guides work regularly with young people so are able to relate to them and provide an experience which challenges them without pushing them beyond their limits.


Outdoor activities for school groups are designed to promote:

A positive self image, and develop self esteem.

A sense of self awareness and encourage self reliance.

Pride in pupils own abilities and motivation to continually improve.

An awareness of and respect for others through the building of relationships.

Interpersonal skills and the ability to work as an integral part of the team.

These objectivesare achievedby the meeting of a challenge, physical, mental and emotional, whilst operating in a controlled safety framework.

Who are these adventure courses aimed at?

With the emphasis on adventure, Highpoint delivers these objectives to a wide range of user groups, through a diverse outdoor education programme. These groups include:

Scout and guide groups.

We are based in Elterwater, which is nestled in the Great Langdale Valley, which is 10mins outside of Ambleside,  and are perfectly placed to offer most of our Activities locally, we also have 2 YHA hostels within 10 mins walk.

A number of recommended activities can be found in this section. These activities have been specially created with young people in mind and cover a range of outdoor adventures, combined with exciting challenges such as wild camps and also environmental input so that the groups gain an insight to the issues which affect these wild places.

In addition to the recommended trips, we can also create a bespoke experience for your group. If you have something particular in mind, we will use our in-depth knowledge of the outdoors and of the Lake District to create the perfect trip.

All our guides and Instructors are highly qualified, and have vast experience of working with children, all technical and safety equipment is provided and educational fun is always guaranteed.

We can also arrange Guides for all levels of Geography field trips looking at Glaciation, Geomorphology, Geology and  the history of the Lake District for everyone between key stage 2 and A level students, we are based in the Langdale valley which is one of the very best examples of a glaciated valley.

Pricing and other info

Costs are worked out on group size, duration, and specific needs but are based on per instructor with a ratio of 1:8,  All technical and safety equipment for the activities chosen are included in the price, please contact us to discuss specific needs for a competitive quote.

Highpoint Mountain Guides are licenced by the Adventure Activities Licencing Authority to offer outdoor activities to school and college students under the age of 18 years old, The AALA inspect our practices and procedures so you can be sure that our operation is extremely safe. We only employ profesional, highly qualified and experienced instructors, who have great instructional and personal experience, so you get the best experience availiable.
