Are you an SPA trainee and feel you would benefit from a day covering the skills you will be assessed on before you commit to your assessment?, or are you looking to complete your training and would like to know what will be involved before you start your journey?
The Single Pitch Award refresher day will take place on the single pitch crags of the Lake District and will cover all the subjects on the SPA syllabus, we can also tailor the day to cover any certain parts of the syllabus you may want to concentrate on, such as common deferral subjects such as group safety and rescue scenarios.
During the day, we will build an action plan of things you need to work on before you go for assessment, we can also help source trusted SPA Assessment providers.
DURING THE DAY WE WILL COVER:
Technical competence/personal climbing skills.
Anchor selection.
Anchor building.
Rope work.
Group belay.
Releasable abseil set up.
The climbing environment including access, conservation and crag etiquette.
Group supervision and management.
Rescue techniques.
WHO IS THE COURSE AIMED AT:
The refresher day is ideal for any aspiring SPA or individuals that already hold the qualification , but have not used it for along time and would like to refresh the skills.
WHERE WILL THE COURSE BE HELD:
We usually base ourselves in the beautiful Langdale valley, this is a 10 min drive from Ambleside, Grasmere and Windermere.
WHAT WILL I NEED TO BRING:
You will need your own personal climbing gear, Helmet, Harness and Rock shoes, we will provide all hardware and ropes.
