Winter has now started arriving in the Lake District, we are getting snow up high and lots of the summits are looking great in their winter coat!,  forecasts are predicting a good pattern of thaw and freeze which will bring lots of routes and gullies into condition.

We have now started to advertise the first run of Winter skills courses for 2015, there are a few different courses that will appeal to differing experience and ability levels so take a look at our winter skills page for more info.

Our Winter hillwalking skills course is aimed at summer walkers that want to progress to getting out safely into the mountains in the winter time, we cover all the basics including equipment choice, route choice, movement on steep ground and self arrest techniques etc, the course usually runs over 2 days, but we can run 1 day condensed courses for the slightly more experienced walkers.

The Jan and Feb Winter hill walking skills dates are below:

JAN 2015. 17th-18th, 24th-25th

FEB 2015. 7th-8th, 21st-22nd
